Joseph Sciuto was born and raised in New York City.
He spent his early years listening to his Italian-American grandmother's stories about how their family built much of the impressive Manhattan skyline, including the Empire State Building.
The vividness of her stories about their family lives on in his writing.
Many of Joseph's books are based on his 30+ years in Hollywood and his characters frequently "live" in his neighborhood in Los Angeles's San Fernando Valley.
Sciuto splits his time between Los Angeles, Manhattan and Kentucky where he lives with his wife, entertainment writer, Melissa Smith, and two spoiled cats, Bogie and Bette.
Sciuto holds degrees from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Stony Brook University and a certificate in film studies from NYU, with majors psychology, film, theater, literature and English.
He relocated to Los Angeles to attend graduate school at Loyola Marymount University, where he studied writing and film.
